Casey Ley

Casey Ley’s comedy is silly. And smart. And dirty. And dark. And handsome. It’s a lot like him actually. So it is also self-centered, flakey and relatively promiscuous.

He is insecure about his name because Casey is gender non-specific and his last name is pronounced Lie but everyone pronounces it Lee or Lay. As a result, people often expect a Korean woman or a potato chip when they hear his name and while Casey Ley is many things he is unfortunately not a Korean woman nor a potato chip. He blames his parents for everything he is and everything he is not.

The readers of SF Weekly voted him best comic in San Francisco in 2012 (which had nothing to do with his homosexuality), and in 2013 he was runner-up in The Advocate Magazine’s Next Great Queer Comedy competition (which was wholly the result of his homosexuality). Apparently he wasn’t quite gay enough last year. In 2014 he kicked it up a notch and headlined the Rainbow Connection Queer Comedy Tour or as it was described in a slightly homophobic review, “the gaygegaygaygegaygay comedy tour.”

Sure, you are right, that is a lot of gay. But don’t worry because Casey and his shows have also appeared in national comedy festivals like SFSketchfest, the Moontower Comedy and Arts Festival in Austin, TX, Bridgetown Comedy Festival in Portland, OR, on the radio on the relatively popular NPR station, and he has shared the stage with comics you know like Hannibal Buress, Doug Benson, Janeane Garofalo, Todd Barry, Mike Birbiglia, Laura Kightlinger and some other people you’ve heard of if you like comedy and are straight or whatever you want.

Book him. Everyone.
